The Compassionate Friends St. Clair Shores Chapter (www.compassionatefriends.org) under chapter locator) in collaboration with the Compassionate Friends Troy Chapter (www.tcftroychapter.org) hosted Alan Pederson as he kicked off his Angels Across America Fall Tour in St. Clair Shores Michigan.

Alan Pederson is Ashley’s father as well as a bereaved dad. Sadly, Ashley died in a car accident in 2001. Alan was lost and not sure how he was going to get thru life. After all, losing a child is a parent’s worst nightmare.

Alan’s focus on life changed dramatically. Alan began writing and recording songs to celebrate Ashley’s life, hence leading to some healing in his life. He has worked closely with some of the leading experts in the field.

The Angels Across America Tour provides Alan with the opportunity to share his message of hope, through his own experience, presentations as well as the music he has written. Numerous groups across the USA and Canada have hosted Alan for an evening.

Belay Photography has volunteered their time in attending the Compassionate Friend Troy Chapter events such as their balloon release and their annual worldwide candle lighting ceremony in December. We have taken many pictures of their events and helped with editing photos as they build their remembrance candles.

I found Alan to be a phenomenal speaker on grief and hope. While I have not lost a child, the evening spent listening to Alan has given me insight on my own grief journey after losing my mother.

If you should see Alan’s van on the highway or a back dirt road, give him a wave as he drives by. Thank You Alan for all that you do. It was honor to photograph you here in Michigan. Safe travels my friend.
